Data Council Work Plan
Agenda Item 3.
Serve as HHS focal point and liaison for the National Committee on
Vital and Health Statistics
Objective 1: Recommend appropriate foci for the NCVHS
over time and propose implementation of appropriate NCVHS findings and
recommendations.
The Council would carry out the following activities:
- Set up an ad hoc working group to:
- develop criteria for and screen the nominations for membership on the
NCVHS,
- make recommendations on nominations to the full Council, and
- prepare the nomination package for the Secretary.
- Have new members in place by the June 1996 meeting of the NCVHS.
- Set up a Standing Working Group on departmental liaison to the NCVHS
chaired by the HHS Data Council Executive Secretary. On behalf of the Data
Council, the working group would:
- recommend priorities for initial and continuing agenda items for the newly
rechartered NCVHS,
- arrange for staffing support for the subcommittees of the NCVHS,
- determine areas in which the Department would like advice and written
reports from the NCVHS,
- monitor the work of the NCVHS, and
- make recommendations regarding future NCVHS membership.
- The HHS Data Council as a whole would serve as the focal point for:
- receiving NCVHS recommendations,
- integrating NCVHS input with other inputs, and
- making appropriate proposals to the Secretary.
