  • In 1996, married workers had the highest probability of having ESI. 82% of them had the insurance.

  • Widowed, separated and never married workers had approximately equal probabilities of having ESI at around 57-59%.

  • Divorced workers were somewhat more likely to have the coverage than other unmarried persons, but considerably less likely than married workers.
